Fujitus furore!

After a week of to-ing and fro-ing with the Fujitsu technical department we finally get the correct power consumption. Apparently Fujitsus UK technical department had realised their data sheets were incorrect for a while, as the datasheet calculation had been based on tests using 100v carried out in Japan. The article in The Times obviously set some wheels in motion to get this corrected. Its been very interesting talking to technical people regarding the power consumption of plasma versus LCD screens and conventional CRT (tube) TVs. Apparently there seems to be no set standard for testing the power consumption of these new type of screen formats. LCDs appear to use a fairly constant stream of electricity, while plasma’s can vary according to the brightness levels of the image displayed, similar to CRT screens.
