One Response to Save even more energy by replacing your old bulbs

  1. Tony Erwood says:

I am very much in favour of moving to low energy lamps. BUT, I have found that often these low energy lamps especially the higher power 18 to 25 watt sizes fail to achieve the expected life when operating in condtions where the electronic components within them run hot (even in a low energy lamp, most of the power consumed by it is manifest as heat). The lamp hanging upside down e.g. from a ceiling pendant, is a typical situation. The same type of lamp running in cooler conditions, e.g. outdoors in a weather proof enclosure, lasts many times longer. There needs to be a standard on operational life to which manufacturers are forced to comply before a given lamp can be CE marked.
